Fine Tuna is built to listen to your instrument, not to collect a profile of you. Its tuning work happens on your device.

The short version
- No account is required. You can use Fine Tuna without creating any kind of account.
- Core analysis runs locally. Live pitch detection, tuner displays, keyboard, temperament editing, and review tools are designed to run on your device.
- The microphone is used for tuning. Fine Tuna listens only when microphone-based tuning or recording is active.
- No automatic diagnostic uploads. Logs, recent audio, and performance or crash reports remain on your device unless you explicitly prepare and send or share an optional feedback package.
- No advertising or in-app tracking. Fine Tuna does not include in-app advertising or third-party behavioral analytics. Website analytics is described below.
Your tuning data
Custom temperaments, display profiles, presets, settings, Stretch Tuning Keyboard Profiles, and locally created review material are stored on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, supported settings and custom data may sync through Apple’s iCloud services under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Fine Tuna does not automatically send that synced data to the developer.
Microphone and recordings
Microphone audio is used to detect pitch and, when you explicitly choose a recording or review feature, to create material for that feature. While microphone-based tuning is active, Fine Tuna may also keep a rolling buffer of up to two minutes of recent audio solely so that you can choose to include it in an optional feedback package. This buffer stays on your device and is never sent automatically.
Optional network activity
If you open hosted facsimile images or another external link, your device contacts that website to load the content. When you download Fine Tuna or manage a subscription through the App Store, Apple may process platform-level information under its own privacy policy.
Website analytics
The Fine Tuna website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, device and browser details, and interactions with links. The website does not send your microphone audio, tuning recordings, or app data to Google Analytics. See Google’s Privacy Policy for more information.
Subscriptions and purchases
Fine Tuna Pro subscriptions and introductory offers are purchased through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes payment, Apple Account, and subscription information under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Fine Tuna receives the transaction and entitlement information needed to provide and restore access; it does not receive your payment card details.
See our Terms of Use for subscription terms, including introductory offers and automatic renewal.
Optional support and diagnostics
Fine Tuna stores its tuning logs and Apple MetricKit system performance and crash reports locally on your device. The developer does not receive this information automatically.
If you tap Email Logs on the Send Feedback page, Fine Tuna first explains what the feedback package may contain and asks whether you want to prepare it. If you continue, the app locally prepares a feedback email or shareable package containing a tuning log, up to two minutes of recent microphone audio when available, settings that differ from their defaults, current iCloud sync status, and retained system performance and crash reports.
Nothing leaves your device when the package is prepared. You can review it or cancel. The package leaves your device only if you then explicitly send the email or choose a sharing destination. If you send it to Fine Tuna support, the developer uses it only to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue.
If you contact support without using Email Logs, your email address and anything you choose to include are received through ordinary email and used to respond to your request. Avoid sending recordings or personal information that are not needed to explain the issue.
